Cancun

6 months ago I had the crazy idea to go on a trip for our 10 year anniversary and somehow all the pieces fell into place.  I picked the second cheapest vacation package in Cancun (still not cheap, but sooo worth it), scored the best babysitters around, and invited Marie and Scott to join us.

Wednesday was a long travel day.  We woke up at 3:00 am, sat in the airport for a couple of hours for maintenance issues, and enjoyed a long layover in Houston.  It would have sucked, but I had Dave there making me laugh the entire time.  We rolled into the Ocean Maya Royale about 6 pm and everything looked a little familiar.  It turned out, we randomly chose the exact same resort we were married at and that made our vacation even better.  I forgot all about our long travel day as we walked around the resort and enjoyed a spectacular dinner at the Mexican Restaurant.  I got some yummy chicken and Dave pretty much got a bowl of meat with some of the best steak I have ever had.

Thursday we relaxed big time with laying out in the shade, walking along the beach, and eating delicious food.  We didn't even swim, but we did go to a high pressure timeshare presentation.  Oh well, just more to laugh about with Dave.  Dave asked me where I wanted to eat, but just as a formality because he totally wanted Mexican again.  It was still delicious and Dave let me steal his steak again.  We ended the night with an impressive fire show and lots of funny commentary.

Friday we started our day off right with omelets made to order then a couples massage.  I had never had a massage before so had no idea what to expect, but it was spectacular.  Marie and Scott finally arrived after some flight delays so we showed them our sit, walk, eat routine.  It was so great to catch up!  We tried dinner at the fancy restaurant.  It was fancy, but not quite as tasty as Mexican, but our standards were pretty high at this point.

Saturday we woke up bright and early to watch the sunrise.  It was beautiful and so worth it!  We enjoyed paradise one last day then spent the evening shopping for the girl's gifts in downtown Playa.  It was the perfect ending to our perfect vacation.

Sunday was another travel day, but it was surprisingly relaxing.  Dave and I were not ready to leave paradise, but we were excited to see the girls.  Milan, Eden, and Cora gave us big hugs, but it took Indie a little while to warm up. The older girls showed us one creation after another and shared all the fun things they had done while we were gone.  Kyle and Sarah had been even more amazing to our girls then I could have imagined.

I'm still on a vacation high so I want to share that I am so incredibly blessed!  I truly love Dave and love spending time with him.  Our life is crazy (okay, really crazy), but our relationship is constant and easy.  While on vacation, I told Dave I have everything I have ever wanted.  He gave me the crazy eye, but it's true.  I have a great marriage, a life full of adventures, and babies to love.

Indie {51 Weeks}

Indie developed a red bumpy rash all over her body as a reaction to the Amoxicillin that she was prescribed to treat her sinus infection.  It didn't seem to bug her, but made me nervous about leaving on our trip.  After double checking with her pediatrician, Dave and I left as scheduled, Indie finished her antibiotics, and the rash went away.  I heard she was sad the first day that we were gone, then did great for the remainder of our trip.  She must have been comfortable because she seemed to forget all about me.  It took me a couple hours to win her over then she was back to her cute smiley self.  (Those rosy cheeks are from using her face to transition from laying to sitting all day long, poor kid!)

Superman!
Still pointing with her finger, it is so cute!

Fall Concert

Wednesday night we were in the car driving back from gymnastics when the girls mentioned their school concert for the very next day.  I'm not sure how I missed it in the school communication, but luckily we were free and had cute dresses so it totally worked out.  I took the big girls by myself (Dave stayed home with a sleeping Indie and tired Cora) and loved watching them up on stage!  They both did a wonderful job and I think performing is a good experience for these beautiful ladies!

Indie {50 Weeks}

Indie has been sick for several weeks with a low grade fever, loss of appetite, super runny nose, and an unfortunate puking incident during date night.  Monday morning, I started thinking her symptoms might be more than teething + cold so I did my normal google diagnosis and decided she had a Sinus Infection.  Luckily, we were able to get into the pediatrician that same day, confirm her diagnosis, and get some antibiotics.  I feel terrible that I didn't recognize it sooner, but glad we're on the mend.

Despite being sick and hating that blasted nose sucker, Indie has been a pretty happy camper.  The other day she picked up the brush and started combing Milan's hair, all on her own.  What a smart cookie!  Indie can move around the room easily with rolling, army crawling and lots of transitioning back and forth.  She loves to "play" with her sisters and Dave and I have really enjoyed watching sitting off to the side and watching them interact.

 This Superman pose is a favorite.  Indie often busts out this pose and starts panting.  I have no idea why, but it's cute.

 This is pretty much for our living room looks like most of the time nowadays.

 Indie has been pointing with her thumb.  I have wondered if it's from learning to sign "mama" and "dada" before pointing?

All I want for Christmas.....

After 3-4 weeks of Eden's super wiggly front tooth barely hanging in there, she knocked it out before bed last night!  She said she accidentally hit it with her knee, then finally gave it the slightest tug and it was out.  The tooth fairy left $2 and some Smarties.  Eden seemed super excited, but did sleep through the night so she must be a pro at losing teeth by now.  We've stopped calling her Eden McPhee, but we have been singing a certain little song.....

Family Pictures

This year we asked our friends to help us take our own family pictures.  Not just once, but twice.  The first time Indie would not crack a smile and I really wanted to see a bunch of cute happy faces hanging on my wall so we tried again the following weekend (we are lucky to still have friends haha.)  The second time was a success!  For the family picture, I got everyone in position then ran around with Indie popping into the picture at just the right time.  I pulled out some crazy faces, songs, and actions to get a picture of the girls together and it totally worked!

After my 2 big ticket pictures, I just played with my girls while Sarah snapped pictures of us together.  (Dave preferred talking to Kyle over more pictures, weird.)  I will always cherish these pictures and can't wait to find some free space on my walls.

This is our awesome photographer!  I am so grateful for her willingness to go along with my shenanigans and of course her steady shutter finger!
