Adventureland

A couple of weeks ago, we drove to Des Moines to visit my friend Jen from high school, photograph their family pictures, and most importantly for my kids, visit Adventureland!  We started off the day at the water park.  Eden and Cora found a little splash pad, while Dave and Milan rode water slides and played in the wave pool.  Half way through the day, we started hitting up the rides.  Dave and Milan were quite the daredevils and rode most of the spinny rides and roller coasters.  Eden and Cora were more timid, but found some favorite kiddie rides.  Luckily, there were no lines, so they were all able to ride to their hearts desire :).

Around 6, everyone was worn out and we thought the kids were done for the night.  They devoured a pizza at Pizza Hut then were ready to shut down the park.  We had a fun family weekend full of great memories!

Flag Day

One of the highlights of summer school was the flag day celebration.  Milan and Eden made darling props in their classes, paraded around the school, and finished with Popsicles on the playground.  Cora joined the parade with Milan's class and was front and center for Popsicles.  What a great way to celebrate America and our flag!

Milan's Happy Birthday

I can't believe this beautiful young lady is already 8!  We enjoyed a fun birthday with family and friends AAANNND an awesome American Girl Tea Party Sleepover....lucky girl!  Milan started off her birthday opening gifts (American Girl Tent, Hairstyling Chair, and Lego Kit).  We tried out strawberry picking and had a great time, even though it was toasty.  We picked for about 10 minutes then decided to cool off in the shade and enjoy the play structures.  Next up was going to the pool with friends, jumping off the high dive, and family dinner at Pizza Hut.

Friday, we hosted a sleepover with 3 of Milan's friends.  We started off the evening making our own American Girl tea cups, then moved on to the big kid tea party with lemonade and finger foods, opening gifts, cupcakes, and all sorts of sleepover shenanigans.  A fun filled night with exhausted girls!

Girl Scout Bridging Ceremony

We attended a fun ceremony for girl scouts and celebrated girl scout successes, great leaders, and wonderful friends.

Summer School

We decided to try out summer school for the first 3 weeks of summer.  We are hit and miss about attending since we have other fun activities too.  Milan enjoys seeing her friends and Eden is really enjoying the introduction to kindergarten and the kids in her class.  Eden did have one rough day in the beginning, but has since decided she loves school.  Cora and I walk up to the school to meet the girls for lunch whenever we get a chance.  Win.  Win.  Win.
