Activity Days

On every other Tuesday of every other month I host activity days at my house. It's fun and usually pretty crazy with 8-11 year old girls that like to sing Taylor Swift songs, make-up cheerleading routines, play with Milan's toys and just be really loud. This week we finished a little early and the girls let Milan be the leader and they chased her around the house. Milan absolutely loved playing with the big girls and was laughing the whole time!

While I was in the shower.....

During my shower, I poked my head out to check on Milan and she had learned to climb into the second drawer of the vanity! Now, nothing is safe. While I was watching her, she used q-tips to "remove her eye make-up", hung hair ties on her pigtails, and put my watch on and said "cute." She is growing up so dang fast!

She started jumping in the drawer and I said, "no, no, no" and she replied, "yes, yes, yes." What a little punk! I will have to talk to Dave about that one.....I'm sure she did not learn backtalk from me :)

First Time

Today was almost 40 degrees and not too windy so I decided to take advantage of the weather and try out my new camera. I took Milan and a full bag of milk chocolate chips to downtown Rock Springs and snapped a couple of pictures. Milan was tolerant for about 15 minutes so I think I will try to go out for a couple of minutes every morning that it's decent. That's the great thing about digital.....I can practice without spending money developing a bunch of pictures.

As a side note, Milan got a hold of Dave's face shaver tonight and tried to use the rotating blades on her hair. It got caught. Milan was shocked and sad. As I tried to rush a hysterical Milan to the kitchen so I could cut out the blades, she yanked on it as hard as possible and pulled out a pretty good chunk of hair. One side of her head has some pretty short pieces and she kept pointing to her head and saying "ouch." She's a pretty happy camper now and I think we can use hair product to disguise the short pieces for a little while. I'll post a picture soon :)

*Before you think we are terrible parents, Dave was in the shower and she can climb in the bathroom drawers and pretty much reach everything.....I am going to install a vanity on the wall above the toilet and hopefully prevent future bathroom mishaps.

It's been a while......

So, I haven't blogged for a while, but I have been taking cute pictures of a certain little girl :). Here they are in no particular order....

Milan playing in bubble wrap from my new camera. Dave bought me a sweet new camera (Nikon D-60)....I am working on learning the features so I can hopefully take some awesome pictures.

Milan's babies are now protected from leaks. She is a little obsessed with diapers....she loves to diaper her babies and my personal favorite is that she likes to remove her clothes and diaper while she is in the crib. Last night, I went to check on her before I went to bed and of course she was sleeping naked in her crib. You might think this would mean she was ready for potty training, but nope. What a nut!

Playing with stickers.

The finished product. Dave is such a good sport!!

Seasoning her fake food....what a great little cook!

We took a family drive last weekend (Dave loves to go for drives and since we love to hang out with dad, we go with him.) We took a break and let Milan "drive" and mostly play with all the buttons/knobs in the truck.
Milan and dad!

Milan and mom (kinda)!

Family shot.....Milan wouldn't cooperate with the smiley pictures so this was our solution :)

Fun times......

My friend Jen Wiley just posted her favorite wedding pics and this one made the cut. The DJ played some great songs from the college days and we had such a blast dancing! I was even able to drag Dave out to the dance floor for a few songs....he does the typical guy shuffle, but it's always a fun time :). I think we're going to have to find some more occassions for going out and dancing.

We made it!

We had a wonderful trip to Oregon! We have been home 2 days and I am happy to say that I have unpacked, laundered, grocery shopped, sorted through the mail, paid bills, cleaned the car, and now I'm ready to blog about our trip :)
Dave was the official driver and I was the official child entertainer.

I was usually pretty good at my job and Milan was a pretty happy camper for most of the trip (To be honest, there were a lot of Oreos involved)! On our last day of driving, she kept pulling at her car seat, and saying "done?"
Our first day in Florence was sunny and beautiful. The sun is rare on the Oregon coast so we decided to take advantage of the opportunity for Milan's first beach trip.....not a big hit this time.

We visited with my friend Dawn and her little family. It was great to see them and Milan especially loved visiting their farm and petting all the animals.

We also got to visit with my friend Cindy......Dave and I met at her son's first birthday party 8 years ago :). We were able to see a lot of our friends and we loved catching up!

We stayed with Dave's parents and took advantage of some babysitting while we were there.....Dave and I enjoyed some dates and I took a couple of days for shopping (since I'm deprived here in Wyoming.) Milan caught on and wouldn't let me out of her sight while I was home with her. She had a lot of fun with her grandparents (thanks again for the hospitality!).
Milan got excited every time she saw her pop-pa! (Even if we all walked in the house together, she ignored Dave and I for her pop-pa!)

Walking with grand-ma.

Family Picture

The kids (and kids-in-laws)

Our little family

Here we are playing with the miniature horse....Milan was too scared to touch him, but liked to pet him vicariously through me :)

Milan decided she needed to change dad's diaper. After she made him lay down on the floor, she lost interest and left to play with her babies.

All in all a good trip.....of course it is always nice to be home :)

Oregon

I just wanted to do a quick post from Florence, Oregon. Dave accepted a new job (still a diesel mechanic in Rock Springs, just a better job with a better company) that starts on the 16th. When he told his old company, they asked him to turn in his service truck and take his last 2 weeks as paid vacation. We were pretty excited about that....we decided to head to Oregon to visit friends and family. We pretty much figured that the drive here would be 14 continuous hours of screaming, but Milan was awesome. She refused to take a nap in the car so most of the time she looked out the window with a dazed look on her face :). Here we are taking an kheam (ice cream) break in Bend, Oregon.
We are having a great time with everyone in Oregon and Milan is having even more fun than us! She likes to see all the horses, cows, cats, chickens, and rabbits and absolutely loves to see her Pop-pa (grandpa Bill.)
