4th of July!

This was our first year staying in Rock Springs for the 4th AND the first year Milan was old enough to enjoy the festivities. Unfortunately, Dave had to work, but Milan and I had a lot of fun hanging out with friends. We bbq'd in the afternoon then headed to Green River to reserve a premium spot for the fireworks. They had a lot of fun stuff going on......

Milan loved playing at the park....

But she wasn't too sure about holding the sparkler....the poppers were definitely more of her thing......

They gave out free glow necklaces and they were a big hit.....

Milan and Hannah had a good time busting a move on the dance floor (what can I say, this little girl loves to dance!).....

Milan liked watching the fireworks with all of the big kids and was really excited to tell dad all about it when she got home!

SWEET Ride

My dad got Milan a really really cool birthday present. It's a little pink metal pedal-car with a super cute personalized license plate! I can't believe how cool this car is and Milan loves it too! Every time she goes into the garage she asks to ride it and it was even the first thing she asked for when she woke up this morning.....this girl is hooked and she can't even pedal it by herself yet (just give us to the end of the day though....she's almost got it.)

Thanks Grandpa Bob!!!!

Father's Day

This post is a week late, but I'm married to a pretty great father (and husband) so I didn't want to overlook his special day. We enjoyed spending the day together as a family.......Milan helped Dave open his gifts and eat his treats (she's such a great little helper in that department.)

I don't see how this handmade t-shirt wouldn't be his absolute favorite gift of all time. Dave wore it all day and I just washed it so it's ready to be worn again :)

Dave is really a wonderful dad and we are so grateful to have him. He is so selfless; he works so hard for our family (like 128 hours last week) and on his days off he loves to play with Milan and spend time with our little family! We love playing with daddy and think we're pretty lucky!

Bustin' a Move

# of miles driven: 1647
# of bugs that were killed by my car: 10,000+
Watching this little girl bust a move on the dance floor: Priceless

I wish I had a better picture; Milan danced the night away and loved it! We had a little family dance party at home today because she just loves it so much!

Ontario

Milan I and left Tuesday for The Dalles, Oregon where my sister is getting married on Saturday. Dave had to work so I have been dreading this solo drive for weeks.

So far.....not too bad. Tuesday we drove to Draper and Milan learned that you cannot put your sandals too close to an open window while the car is traveling down the Interstate at 80 mph ("uh-oh.........bye-bye sandal"). I learned that taking a toddler to Tai-Pan for a leisurely stroll and home decor contemplation after a 3 hour drive is pretty dumb. Today we drove through desolate eastern Idaho which meant that every time Milan told me she had to go potty, we pulled over, broke out the potty from trunk and she did her business on the side of the road (I know it's pretty white-trashish but I wasn't going back to diapers.) Only 4 1/2 hours of driving left to go in this direction....wish us luck!

Thanks Jen!

Dave and I had a super fun 4-wheeling trip with our friends Chantz and Morgan (Modawg... for those in the know) who just got a new Rhino. They don't have ramps yet so we drove around for a while looking for the perfect ditch so they could unload their Rhino. Then we rode around, chatted, ate a picnic lunch, and an entire bag of Funyuns.

My friend Jen was really nice and offered to watch Milan for a couple of hours while we went......I couldn't believe it when I looked at my watch and it had already been 4 1/2 hours and we were nowhere near the truck. I blame Dave because he is like a big little kid and kept saying, "let's just head over to that next plateau....go up that little hill....there's a better view over there....etc." It really was a fun time! Thanks Jen for watching Milan, hanging up on me when I called to apologize, and not hating us for being late!!!!!!!

Milan's 2nd Birthday!

We had a special birthday on Wednesday.....Milan turned two!!! We started the day with a fun trip to the store to pick out princess plates, napkins, and candles AND pink balloons....she was pretty excited about all of it! Then, Milan got to play outside and have a picnic with some of her little friends. After naptime, Milan went for a truck ride with dad and they ended up going mudding (Dave says it was an accident, but you can never be too sure :). They made it back just in time for cake and presents.

We had a couple of friends over for the festivities and the kids had a fun time playing outside.
For some reason, Milan decided to go swimming fully dressed, which made Max want to hop in too. We changed Milan, but poor Max had to hang out in little boxer-briefs all night :)

Milan was having so much fun that she had a full-blown tantrum when we told her it was time to come inside for presents. After a fun little birthday time-out, we opened a couple of presents. Milan loved playing with each gift after she opened it....she didn't want to be rushed so we only opened a couple on her birthday and have been opening a couple every day (which I think is even more FUN!)

A tired birthday girl at the end of a fun day!
