Dave's Birthday Schindig

Dave turns the big 3-0 on August 31st! Since there's a good chance that we will be spending the day in the hospital or at home with a very new baby, we celebrated with some friends on Sunday. Our good friends the Sorensens were super nice to offer their home, deck, playground equipment, and croquet course for our little schindig.....it was hard to turn down since we don't even have patio furniture at this point :) It was a fun night of eating, visiting, and one very fierce croquet competition.

The settings on my camera got goofed up so most of my pics turned out really blurry....I'll spare you the headache, but here's a pic of the boys playing croquet.

Dave had Monday and Tuesday off as well so we continued celebrating with a trip to Salt Lake to find new leather couches (okay, maybe it wasn't Dave's idea, but he was a good sport and we had a fun trip.) Today we visited Dave at work for dinner.....Milan and I are working on fun things for the rest of "birthday fun week."

Chelse and Riley's Wedding

Last Friday, Dave took the day off of work (gasp, that never happens) so that we could go to Idaho Falls for a wedding (double gasp!). We woke up at four and were on the road with a sleepy Milan by five. We brought our infant carseat and medical records just in case....thankfully they weren't needed. We stopped for a healthy breakfast of Hostess Cherry Pies and chocolate donuts (not the real kind, but the heavily preserved mini-donuts). Milan discovered that if she licked the chocolate frosting shell, she could use the donut as a crayon and draw all over herself......this was the end result. Hey, it kept her quiet in the car for a while :)
We really enjoyed the wedding, luncheon, reception and mostly spending time with family. I wish I had a picture of Chelse and Riley because they're such a cute married couple, but they were just too popular :). I did get pics of our little family:

Dave and I (39 weeks prego) at the reception

Here's Milan joining in on the fun!

All the prego ladies.....Dave's cousin and cousin-in-law are both due in November so it'll be a blast for the kids to play together later.

Dave and Milan

Milan dancing at the reception. Milan probably had the best day of her life....there was dancing with daddy, dancing with her little friends, fireworks, cookies, wearing her pretty dancing dress (her words), and camping with papa and grandma.

Saturday, Milan got to hang out with her grandparents while Dave and I got to hang out by ourselves :). Thanks to Chelse and Riley for sharing their special day with us.....we had a great time!

Poses

I love to play dress up with Milan and take her out for pictures. This time she broke out some super cute poses that I had to share......

Ouch!

Saturday night we went to a fun party (thanks Jen!).....Milan was exhausted, it was pretty dark (second power outage this week), loud, and Milan was determined to take a stroller down the stairs . Well, it didn't work out very well for her and she fell down the entire flight of stairs and bonked her head somewhere along the way. Poor kid! She was pretty tough about it and even though her eye and forehead are blue and purple, she continues to tell me all about the "owie" (scar) on her elbow from falling earlier this summer.

Last night, Milan pretended to towel off her baby, comb her hair, and get her dressed for bed (pretty cute!). Then we just had fun and did silly faces for the camera :)

Hanging out with daddy!

We've been really lucky to hang out with daddy and enjoy fun summer activities! Milan and I have been meeting daddy for lunch at the park almost every day.....we love seeing dad in the middle of the day and Milan always loves a trip to the park (she's a little spoiled :)

Milan's new favorite park activity is throwing rocks.....which means that dadddy collects lots of rocks, hands them to Milan, Milan throws them all into the water, laughs, and asks for more.

Almost every night we have been going for walks or 4-wheeler rides. We always run into friends so Milan lucks out and gets to play until at least 9:30 every night (one of the reasons that I LOVE summer....it's always fun to visit with neighbors and friends.)

We went fishing and bbqing with friends last night and it was so much fun! It was a beautiful night with fun people and yummy food. Milan is starting to catch on that her vest is uncool since nobody else is wearing one. I try to keep up the enforcement, especially since Milan tried to sneak off to play in a port-a-potty with her little friends (this is quite possibly my biggest fear.....not only are they gross, but such a drowning hazard!)

While we're at home, Dave is a good sport about playing dress-up with Milan. Here she is combing his hair (she tried combing mine first, but the comb kept getting stuck.) Dave lets Milan paint his nails purple, put on lip gloss, and dress him up in fun outfits.....just wait until there are 2 little girls working on him!

Milan also loves to play with trucks, cars, dirt, and little people, which must make daddy proud!

Milan loves to make daddy cards and painted pictures for his tool box, work truck, truck, and the refrigerator....what can I say, he's pretty dang lucky!

Sugar!

So...I have a bit of a sweet tooth and apparently so does my child.

Last week Milan went to her friend's birthday party where she got to decorate her own cupcake with frosting. (She is pretty familiar with frosting, espcially Rainbow Chip Frosting, so she was extra-excited about this activity).

She kept squeezing out frosting and licking it off her cupcake until everything was cleaned up and everyone else had clearly moved on to other activities.

Saturday, we watched the downtown parade with our friends and Milan LOVED it! She got to sit in her little princess chair and watch some of her favorite things (busses, fire trucks, horses, and trucks with music) while having a continuous supply of candy thrown at her feet.

I actually did try to cut Milan off at the parade, but she had a hard time listening when a sucker was thrown right at her. She was a little fired up for naptime, but it was definitely a fun day!

Dance Party!!!!

Most nights Milan tells Dave, "dance room daddy," which means she wants to turn on the radio in our room and have a little dance party with her daddy. They start off dancing, then Dave spins Milan around and throws her on the bed. The second Milan lands on the bed, she says "again." If the radio song ends and the announcers start talking, Milan gets mad and turns the radio off. They both crack up the whole time and they keep going until Dave is worn out....I love watching their daddy-daughter time.
