Sugar!

So...I have a bit of a sweet tooth and apparently so does my child.

Last week Milan went to her friend's birthday party where she got to decorate her own cupcake with frosting. (She is pretty familiar with frosting, espcially Rainbow Chip Frosting, so she was extra-excited about this activity).

She kept squeezing out frosting and licking it off her cupcake until everything was cleaned up and everyone else had clearly moved on to other activities.

Saturday, we watched the downtown parade with our friends and Milan LOVED it! She got to sit in her little princess chair and watch some of her favorite things (busses, fire trucks, horses, and trucks with music) while having a continuous supply of candy thrown at her feet.

I actually did try to cut Milan off at the parade, but she had a hard time listening when a sucker was thrown right at her. She was a little fired up for naptime, but it was definitely a fun day!

Dance Party!!!!

Most nights Milan tells Dave, "dance room daddy," which means she wants to turn on the radio in our room and have a little dance party with her daddy. They start off dancing, then Dave spins Milan around and throws her on the bed. The second Milan lands on the bed, she says "again." If the radio song ends and the announcers start talking, Milan gets mad and turns the radio off. They both crack up the whole time and they keep going until Dave is worn out....I love watching their daddy-daughter time.

It turns out.....

that cabinets do not paint themselves. I want to have cute painted cabinets and I have already planned my hardware, backsplash tile, and decorations BUT I have no motivation to actually paint them. The problem is that I have already started two sections and they are just waiting there with doors off for me to finish them. Here's what we have been doing instead of finishing our cabinet project:
- Transitioning Milan to a toddler bed. I have been holding on to the crib as long as possible and dreading this transition, but it really has been pretty smooth. Milan goes to bed without any problem and she goes down for naps pretty well when I lay down with her and cuddle (I am forced to take a nap in the middle of the day while cuddling with my little girl, but oh well.)

-We also cleaned out the office/guest bedroom to make room for the new baby's room. We sorted through all the stuff we have been accumulating since high school and moved the keepers downstairs. I organized all the baby stuff and had fun hanging up little Newborn outfits for the new one!
-Tons of yard work.....all that is left for this year is planting trees and shrubs in our beds and hauling in rock.....I will post pictures when that's done.
-Hanging out with Milan and doing all of our normal stuff (parks, walks, tantrums, and more playing.)

This is my public declaration........I will finish two cabinet sections by Friday and will have them all done by the end of the month. Okay, there.....let's see if I can just stick to it!

WATER!!!

This past week was full of parks, splash parks, playing at friends' houses, bbqs, and 2 year old pool parties in our back yard......lots of fun for Milan, but not very productive for me (still have lots of cabinets to paint and time is ticking.) Really, it's been too nice to stay inside......here's some pics of our past week!

So, this one's a little risque, but I strategically photo shopped this picture to make it okay.....too bad I can't keep clothes on this kid :)

Summer Fun!

We have been playing in the sun every chance that we get.
A couple of weeks ago, we got a group of friends together and drug them out to a completely random subdivision 20 minutes out of town....it's neat because they have a little park and a stocked fishing pond for kids and old people. We all had a great time and even caught a couple of tiny fish for the kids!

My poor child.....I made her wear this super nerdy vest.

We told her it was cool and she's too young to know better. Plus, it protects her during these little stunts.....she is fearless around water, but not a real strong swimmer.

Our friends got a real live Bouncy House and invited Milan over for a little play date. She had a blast for about 10 minutes then decided to throw dirt instead.

We go to the spray park practically every day!

Milan loves to run around the outside circle and even dares to get wet once in a while. She loves it and it makes for some easy naptimes :)

4th of July!

This was our first year staying in Rock Springs for the 4th AND the first year Milan was old enough to enjoy the festivities. Unfortunately, Dave had to work, but Milan and I had a lot of fun hanging out with friends. We bbq'd in the afternoon then headed to Green River to reserve a premium spot for the fireworks. They had a lot of fun stuff going on......

Milan loved playing at the park....

But she wasn't too sure about holding the sparkler....the poppers were definitely more of her thing......

They gave out free glow necklaces and they were a big hit.....

Milan and Hannah had a good time busting a move on the dance floor (what can I say, this little girl loves to dance!).....

Milan liked watching the fireworks with all of the big kids and was really excited to tell dad all about it when she got home!

SWEET Ride

My dad got Milan a really really cool birthday present. It's a little pink metal pedal-car with a super cute personalized license plate! I can't believe how cool this car is and Milan loves it too! Every time she goes into the garage she asks to ride it and it was even the first thing she asked for when she woke up this morning.....this girl is hooked and she can't even pedal it by herself yet (just give us to the end of the day though....she's almost got it.)

Thanks Grandpa Bob!!!!
