Cora's Newborn Pictures

While I was pregnant, I spent a lot of time stalking newborn photography websites and decided on a photographer in Colorado Springs.  It turns out that Colorado Springs is much farther away then I had realized, but it was totally worth it because I LOVE Cora's newborn shots!  Cora slept the entire way in the car so I was worried that she would be wide awake for her session, but she was awake for a little while, nursed, then fell back asleep for the entire session.  She also slept the entire way home (of course she wanted to party all night, but I don't mind snuggling at night!)

Here is our sweet little Cora at 7 days :)

I just love her little newborn smile in this one!

Cora Ashley Scott

7 pounds 5.8 ounces
20.25 inches

We went into the hospital Monday morning at 7:00 for an induction.  I was only 39 weeks pregnant, but they agreed to induce me since Dave is planning on working out of town this summer.  Plus, I was done being pregnant and we were excited to meet this little girl.  I was given a pill to kick off labor, which initiated contractions, but I didn't make any progress for hours.  When my contractions started, I told Dave, "great, we can have this baby by 3:00."  When 3:00 came, I was only dilated to a 2 so I was a little discouraged.  Dave and I did enjoy spending time together and being lazy; we watched hours of TV and spend a lot of time on the Internet.  The doctor came in and broke my water around 5:00, then I was given an epidural around 7:00.  After my epidural, things progressed quickly, I pushed for 7 minutes, and we got to meet our little girl at 8:51 pm.

Here is Cora during her first moments in this world.

I was amazed by her the first time I saw her.
Daddy with his third little girl.  Cora really wanted to suck on her fingers during this picture; maybe she will be a little finger sucker like Eden.
After Cora's first bath, they brought her back in swaddled up with a cute little hat and very tired.  I loved falling asleep next to her and breathing in her sweet baby smell.
The next morning, Dave brought the girls to the hospital to meet their little sister for the first time.  Eden's face says it all!  They were both very excited to meet Cora and couldn't get enough of holding her.  When it was Eden's turn, she literally shook out of excitement and kept pushing me away because she didn't want to give Cora up.
Cora is the perfect addition to our family.

In between family visits, I was able to hold Cora for hours and just watch her.  I just love all the cute faces and snorting noises she makes while she sleeps.

This is our first family picture; we took it right before we left the hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
Family really is the greatest blessing!  I could not ask for more then three beautiful little girls and a wonderful husband who has been doing a great job as Mr. Mom so I can relax and enjoy this special time.

Maternity Pictures

I have always loved seeing other people's maternity pictures so I was pretty excited when I found a photographer in Laramie whose style I liked.  I talked to Eden about pictures for at least two weeks, hoping that if she was familiar with the idea of pictures, then she wouldn't freak out.  She HATED pictures!  Milan loved hamming it up for the camera.  I am very glad that I had them done.....even though I do not feel cute while I'm pregnant and this pregnancy has been the most challenging, I am glad that I have pictures of this special time.  I love the girl's excitement....Eden loves to kiss my belly and talk about how she will share things with the baby, while Milan likes me to open my mouth so she can talk to the baby in my tummy.

Here's our growing family at 34 weeks.

Sharing a Room

In preparation for our new little girl, we bought Milan and Eden some bunk beds and put them in the same room.  They LOVE the bunk bed, but it makes for some late nights.  They stay up late talking, playing, and laughing.  Well, Milan tries to go to sleep so it is mostly just Eden.  Some nights, I find that Milan has tied her blanket around the ladder and put all her dolls in front of it so Eden can't come up to her bed.  I am very happy that Eden adores her sister, but don't really appreciate bad days with tired little girls.....
This is Eden throwing a fit and trying to get me to put her Tinkerbell jammas on in the middle of the day. (Eden does not like it when we break out the camera or video camera during her fits, but Dave and I can't resist :)

Eden is also night potty trained in her big girl bed, so she got to pick out a new doll at Wal-Mart.  The girls have dozens of dolls, but they always want to play with Milan's "Boo-Boo," which is our oldest doll with the craziest hair.  Eden was very happy to pick out her very own "Boo-Boo."

We have started hanging up their favorite art work behind their door, taking pictures when it gets full, then displaying the next batch.  We have quite the little artists so we have an endless supply of art.

Every once in a while I have house withdrawals so I decided to distract myself with a little dresser refinishing project.  Dave's mom gave us this dresser....it's old and solid wood so Dave really didn't want me to paint it.  I really couldn't handle the orangy stain or the hardware.
So, I sanded it down, stained it a pretty walnut color to match the girl's bed, and added some new hardware.

Curious George

Yesterday, we got to meet Curious George at the library!  Here are the girls waiting with their friend Jamie.  Eden just recently started sitting with her sister for story time....I think she looks so big!
The big monkey himself.
Milan was the only one brave enough to meet Curious George.  Afterwards, she told me she thinks he was wearing a costume because his mouth stayed open....hmmmmm.

Playing with Daddy

The girls LOVE when Dave gets home because they know they will get to play some fun games.  One favorite is tickle monster....they have several bases throughout the house so they have the odds stacked in their favor and love it when daddy chases them.  Other times, they beg to be thrown around (in a girly way, they do not like when games get too rough!)  I love to watch them having fun together (and rest; I'm exhausted by 7:00!)

Milan closed her eyes on purpose for this one....little nut!
