Weekend with the Lees :)
Our friends the Lees used to live in Rock Springs and then moved to Gillette a few months ago to start a dental practice there. We have missed them ever since so we drove to Gillette for a visit this past weekend.
The drive to Gillette was funny......we left at 7 pm so we could drive through the night and Milan could sleep. She slept for 1 1/2 hours then woke up and stared at the dvd player with a blank, but awake, stare for the rest of the trip and finally went to bed at 2 am. All I can say is portable dvd players are MAGIC!
Saturday, we went for a family 4-wheeling trip. Dave strapped Milan to his chest with a baby carrier then zipped her up for warmth.

All 3 of us on the 4-wheeler

4 1/2 Lees on one 4-wheeler.

5 1/2 Lees on one 4-wheeler.....wowsers!

Here's Milan with a red little face....it ended up being pretty chilly and Milan got a lot of wind since she was in front....she laughed a lot though so I guess she didn't mind too much.

Here's the Lee kids playing while we stopped for our picnic....it was a little rushed because of the cold and the impending rain storm.

We had a fun time and we're glad that we could see the Lees!

Thanks!
Today is my birthday and it has been absolutely wonderful! I am so thankful to my husband, little girl, family, and friends :)!
I had low expectations.....Dave rolled into bed sometime around 1:00 am and told me he had to work all day. I wasn't bothered because Seattle was my birthday trip and we had a great time. (Plus, how can I be mad that Dave works so hard for our family.) I ended up having a super day.....here were some of the highlights.....
- a goodbye kiss and happy birthday wishes from Dave bright and early this morning, THEN I went back to sleep and woke up with Milan at 8:30!
- Dave came home and surprised us at 11, took us out to lunch, and then we had a family nap (Dave had to go back to work at 1 while I got to continue my nap.)
- My friend Shawnelle took me to Arctic Circle for shakes and fries (YUM!) and we watched the kids play at the park for a while
- Dave fanagelled his way out of work and came home at 7:30 with flowers
- Friends came over to visit and eat cake
- The Sorensens brought a 'Happy Brithday' cake from COLD STONE (yum!)
- Generous gifts from my friends.....I am so lucky to have met such great friends here in Rock Springs!
- talking to family
THANKS to everyone who made my day special.....I LOVED it!
To cuten up this post, here's a couple of pictures of Milan playing peek-a-boo! (It's a favorite game, especially when she's really tired and wants to secretly rest her eyes for a minute.)

'Lil Bit of Cuteness
Milan is really getting into dressing herself....here she is with a pair of pants and 2 pairs of legwarmers on top.....green polka dots and pink stripes. She also really likes to put swim diapers on over her pants....I will have to get a picture of that too!

The other morning, Dave and Milan were playing on our bed......Dave kept throwing her into a pile of pillows and Milan could not get enough! Here she is taking a breather.

Seattle
Dave and I just got back from Seattle....it was our first romantic getaway since Milan and it was W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L! On the way to the airport, Dave said that this trip was a "Bermuda Triangle" of all things he hates......traffic, rain, allergies, crowds, and weddings. Of course Dave was a good sport and we had a lot of fun! The best part was just hanging out together....and sleeping in. Here are some highlights from the trip.....
Friday afternoon, the girls had a High Tea and I got to meet Jen Wiley's other friends from out of town. They serve sorbet and cookies before High Tea....I could definitely get used to dessert before a meal:)

On Saturday, we went downtown to walk around at Pike's Place. We had to park far away then lost our rental car and ended up walking around in the rain for a while. Here we are all drippy :)

Dave's grandma and aunt live in Seattle and we enjoyed meeting them for dinner. (Dave's 1/4 Japanese even though you can't tell at all.)

On Sunday we went to Jen Wiley's wedding and it was beautiful! We drove 15 miles out of Seattle and we were suddenly in the country....the wedding was simple and elegant.

Jen and Lee played a fun Chinese game where they answered questions using one of their shoes (i.e. Who's the better cook.....Jen or Lee?) It was pretty funny.

Cute couple. We had so much fun at the wedding! We met some fun people and had a blast dancing!

We really had a great time and we also missed Milan like crazy. We could hardly wait to see her when we got home :). We were so lucky to have great friends to watch her and when I got home she was weaned from the bottle and responding well to time-out.......maybe we should leave town more often :)

THE Big Yellow Cow
Grandma Kat gave us the Big Yellow Cow a couple of months ago and Milan has seen it off and on since then. Just last week, Dave and Milan discovered that the big yellow cow was the coolest toy ever. Milan loves to be thrown on the cow over and over and and ride the "bucking" cow! Now when Dave comes home from work, Milan drags the cow to the middle of the living room so that Dave can't miss it :). Thanks Grandma Kat for the hours of enjoyment!
