Camping Part 1

We dusted off our camper, packed up 4 weeks worth of stuff, and took the kids for another camping adventure this year. Much of our trip was dictated by Dave's interviews since he took advantage of this opportunity to meet up with dentists throughout Wyoming.  

We pulled into Vedauwoo late at night and lucked out with a great spot among the Frontier Days crowd.  First thing in the morning, the girls wanted to go on motorcycle rides with dad, which everyone seemed to love!  We also got to enjoy beautiful mountain weather, climb rocks, and meet with a dentist in Cheyenne.  Our meeting was an enjoyable evening with an amazing family, who has an adopted son with Down Sydnrome.  The timing is all off for a job, but it was a great experience!

After a couple days, we headed off toward the Snowies, when the truck broke down in the middle of an empty mountain road.  Obviously, that's how things work around here.  Dave saved the day by riding back into town and getting us all fixed up.  Meanwhile, the girls and I hung out at the camper and occupied ourselves with lots of flowers- crowns, bracelets, microphones, wedding bouquets, you name it!  Indie kept herself challenged by walking along the mountain terrain, which is tough stuff for a new walker.  

After our truck mishap, we found a beautiful spot right by a creek, and wouldn't you know it, more flowers.  It was the perfect spot and a central location to go fishing, explore old cabins, walk around downtown Saratoga, visit the Grand Encampment Museum (so good!), dance in the rain at Aspen Alley, and see the Sierra Madre Mountains.  

After a relaxing stop at Martin's Cove, we ended up camping in a meadow with grazing cows then headed to South Pass, Wyoming, which is an old gold mining town.  We did the walking tour, saw one of the old mines, and panned for gold unsuccessfully.  While we were trying to find gold, I struck up a conversation with the other family at the water, and was surprised to learn that he was a Rock Springs dentist that Dave was scheduled to meet later in the trip.  It was such a fun surprise and we really enjoyed getting to know their family for a bit.  The kids weren't excited about leaving until we told them our next planned stop was Farson for a big scoop! 

Our next stop was the muddiest campsite with a perfect little fort area for my adventurers.
