Color Run

During the first week of school, Anderson hosted a Color Run.  I took the whole crew and everyone had a blast!  I started the course with Indie, but she stopped at the first station (green) and refused to leave.  It started with a little color, then they let Indie be a helper, then she started laying in the color and rolling around.  She was a happy little camper, they all were, but it took forever to get that color washed out of everyone's hair.  

First Day of School

After an extra-long summer break, this crew was ready for school today. I was nervous about sending them off to a new school full of new faces, but am so grateful for inclusive friends that made my girls feel loved and welcomed within the first 5 minutes. My biggest hope for the school year is that my girls will be those sweet welcoming friends to others too.

Box City

Well, hello there!  It's been a while since I have blogged, maybe because we moved a second time this summer.  To a fixer upper.  But I'm back with some of the fun things we these past couple of months.  Our neighbor Abigail invited us to join their team making a Box City Cardboard House to raise money and awareness for a local homeless shelter.  Milan and Abigail took this competition very seriously with several planning meetings before the event.  All the hard work paid off when they won first place and received a special brick, which we share with Abigail.  Everybody pitched in with painting, making picture frames, hanging lights, and making this cardboard home awesome.  It was such a fun evening with girls outside in beautiful weather!

Floaties

We have had a looooong summer vacation and I have been feeling a bit blah about it.  We have seen and done most of what Cheyenne has to offer, and it has been tough without our normal friend network.  We have some great friends, the Redds, but we don't want to be stalkers and bug them all the time.  I wanted to get past all the bored feeling and really make this last couple weeks of summer count so we loaded up our stuff and headed to Curt Gowdy State Park.  This time, we remembered our floaties and had a great afternoon together.  Those dollar store floaties are pretty amazing though because they have provided hours and hours of entertainment since the lake!  

Whirlwind Week

Okay, I did not get a whole lot better at taking more pictures since my last post, but I did document most of the crazy wonderful things we have been up to.  

We sure capitalized on our first Frontier Days with the parade, Indian Village, Pancake Breakfast and the Rodeo.  Dave took the older girls to the rodeo and they had to hide in the bathroom during a massive hail storm, but they finished the show and loved to tell me all about it when they got home!  

 And then there was another hail storm.  This one broke 3 windows, totaled Dave's truck and both our trailers.  It has been a little rough that we lost thousands of dollars worth of assets in a half hour, but we are grateful that everyone is okay and truly appreciated the help we received from friends and neighbors.  

 After the hail, we boarded up our windows and carried on with life.  Our friends, the Roses, came to visit us and our ghetto accommodations didn't even matter since we spent most of our time visiting, playing, and touring our favorite Cheyenne destinations. 

 As the Roses were taking off, grandma and grandpa walked in the door for their visit!  The 4:4 ratio was amazing for everyone; I especially enjoyed watching the girls basque in the individual attention.  There were lots of board games, a wonderful late night game of catch with Indie, a trip to the County Fair, and dinner at a restaurant where everyone stuffed their faces with fried ice cream.  What a great week of visitors! 

We finished out the week with a trip to Water World with the Redds and Bades!  We got a sitter for Indie and spent the day doing whatever the big girls wanted to do.  Milan and Cora hung with the daredevil dads, while Eden and I spent most of our time together.  We enjoyed lots of thrills while managing to avoid the spinny rides to it was the perfect companionship.  After a full day of waiting in lines, packing tubes up hills, and reapplying sunscreen, we shut the park down with happy smiles.
