The Princesses Came

A pretty ridiculous thing happened at our house. One night I painted Milan's nails for her before bed and of course one nail got smudged before it could dry. We moved on (or so I thought) then in exhausted hysterics before bed she was pretty upset that her nail was smudged. Some things were said in haste to appease this little girl so that she would just go to bed. As far as Milan knows, the princesses came in the middle of the night, fixed her smudged nail, wrote a jeweled note, brought some play-doh, princess stickers, and a pink spray bottle (the biggest hit of all!). It was definitely a magical morning for Milan. However, she has gotten some weird looks from friends when she tries to explain about the princesses who come in the middle of the night and fix smudged nail polish.

Gymnastics

Milan has wanted to go to gymnastics for months, mostly becuase she really wanted to wear her "nastics" shorts (some faded hand-me-down pajama shorts with stripes down the side.) I signed her up as soon as she turned 3 and even bought her a second pair of shorts so we were ready to go. The first couple of days she was pretty shy, but now she's pretty brave and loving it.

They start out with stretches.

Then there was a jump-flip sequence.

Milan did a flip around the bar.

They also learned some backflips. Dave helped Milan practice her backflips at home and she almost has it down.

They did somersaults and said "ta-da!" at the end of each one. (Milan is a pro at this one!)

Toddler gymnastics is seriously one of the cutest things I have seen! Today, they did "cartwheels" and I am still wishing that I had my video camera with me. I'm glad Milan is enjoying it so much!

International Day

This morning we headed downtown for International Days. Here's Milan and her friend Lizzie at the start of our adventure......looking like pretty normal girls.

After a couple of hours they had bracelets, necklaces, ribbons, painted faces, tummies full of junk food, and a stockpile of freebies. Needless to say, they loved it. They also got to meet a real live princess who Milan decided was looking for her prince so she could dance with him.

The first stop was making wildflower planters.

Next, assembliing bracelets.

Then Milan had her face painted like a Diva.

The girls stopped to make pin-wheels and earned some ribbons for their coloring talents.

After a healthy lunch of donuts, popsicles, and white chocolate-lemon bread, there was some fishing.

And some bean bag tossing.

Milan had a great time and Eden enjoyed snacking in her balloon-decorated stroller.

It's so great that Rock Springs has these free events for kids....it certainly made our day!

Two Bottom Teeth

We had a drooly, sick, and kinda sad baby for a couple of weeks then these two little teeth popped through on July 3rd (Eden's 10 month birthday).

Now Eden is back to being a happy and hungry baby!

Interested.....

For the past 10 months, Eden has had NO interest in crawling. She has been perfectly content to sit on the floor and play with the things around her. It has been very nice. Lately, she has shown a desire to get to things out of her reach. She is always trying to crawl from a sitting position. She's pretty dang flexible so it may just work out for her.

I have been trying to help her out by putting her in the crawling position. She hasn't made the connection yet, so she uses a rolling/ shimying technique to move around. She basically just rolls from tummy to back repeatedly and grunts a little bit until she reaches her desired destination.

Comfy Shmumfy

I just snuck in and snapped some pictures of a cute little sleeping Eden.

The crib is still on the highest setting and Eden insists on sleeping in this direction even though she is too long. (We have tried switching her around and she won't fall asleep in the other direction.) We put her down between the pillow and the bumper, she grabs her pink fleecy blanket and brings it close to her face, sucks on her two fingers, puts her foot between the crib bars and drifts off to dreamland. She wakes up in the exact same spot and entertains herself until we come get her:)

Doesn't look super comfortable to me, but she loves it.

(Milan was jumping up and down, getting naked, and throwing the bumper out of the crib at this point so I am totally appreciating this sleeping routine!)

Wonderful 4th of July

We had a wonderful (but chilly) 4th of July! We went to a yummy bbq and had a great time visiting. Afterwards, we went and watched a pretty sweet fireworks show at a friend's house. Milan had a great time watching the big kids set off fireworks and playing with sparklers.

Eden was pretty tired so we cuddled and watched the fireworks. I'm not sure she was super impressed this year.

Both the kids were pretty tired before the city show even started so we headed home early. What a great night to spend with our little family and friends!
