Princess Party
We asked Milan what kind of birthday party she wanted and we weren't at all surprised when she said a princess party. We let her pick out everything herself....the invitations, the guests, the pink princess cake, and her favorite princess dress-up.
Here she is waiting anxiously with her cake before the party. The cake suffered a small injury while I was taking a shower and Milan was left unsupervised. When I came out of the shower, she told me that if "you put the cake higher higher then I can't get it." I guess chocolate cupcakes with pink frosting and princesses are just too much for a little girl to resist.
We started off the party by making princess/prince crowns.

Time for the highly anticipated cake.....

Milan didn't have the power to get the job done, so daddy helped her blow out the candles.

Milan loved opening presents and the majority of her gifts were pink and/or
princessy so she was a pretty happy camper.

Thanks to everyone who shared Milan's special days with us and helped make her such a happy little 3 year old!!!

Milan's Happy Birthday
Milan had a pretty special birthday this year.
Our first activity was a trip to story time with Anna and J.P. They had a great time playing, listening to stories, singing songs, and making a craft.

We came home for quiet time and Milan got to watch a DVD with two of her favorite things.....Dora and dancing! Then we headed to "Old McDonalds" with the Pugmires. Milan had a happy meal and play time with some good friends.

We played at the park for a bit then as soon as dad walked in the door after work, she started opening presents (waiting a whole day to open presents was nearly torture.)

Milan mostly opened up clothes on her birthday and she loved to spread everything out on the kitchen floor. She played with her new clothes for a long time then during dinner she told us "This is good, I don't need a cake." I think that meant that it was a pretty ideal day for a 3 year old. We didn't stop there though.....

Happy Birthday
My little girl is turning 3 tomorrow and I can't believe it. She will be super excited to wake up to pink balloons, princess accessories, and bagels for breakfast (they're her favorite!) The hardest part will be waiting until daddy gets home to open presents, but we have a fun day planned so hopefully she will be distracted. We certainly love this nutty little girl! :)

I can't believe how old she looks in this picture!

Miss Eden
Little Miss Eden turned 9 months yesterday and I have been waiting for our Internet glitch to get ironed out so I can do a post about this little cutie! (Our Internet doesn't work yet, but one of our neighbor's wireless Internet is working so good enough :) Here are some things about Eden at 9 months:
- She does not attempt to crawl or roll around. She is very content sitting and playing with the things around her. She automatically pulls her legs up into a sitting position whenever she is being moved around; she does not want to be set down on her tummy or stood up.
- No teeth yet.
- No interest in the bottle or sippy cup. Those have been her options for liquid for the past couple of days so she has decided to eat solid foods and drink bath water.
- She LOVES to say da-da-da-da-da and la-la-la-la-la all day long.
- When we say "daddy" she looks directly at Dave and gives him a huge smile.
- She likes to clap and roll her little arms like "wheels on the bus."
- She sat in the front part of the cart for the first time today. Her little gut rolled over the seat belt and completely hid it.
- Every morning I find Milan and Eden laying down in her crib having a little conversation.
- She sucks on her two fingers and a fleecy blankie to fall asleep.
- She's great at picking up tiny things with her fingers.
- She's a picky little eater. She does not like apples or anything green. She loves breads.
- She's happy and smiley most of the day. She rubs her eyes when she's tired, cries in her crib for a minute until she falls asleep, then wakes up smiley again.
We just love this little girl to pieces and we're so lucky to have her in our family :).
Settled In
We had some hectic days and now we're settled into our little apartment. I really thought I would miss our house, but I am LOVING this apartment life. We get to spend time together as a family instead of working on house projects; cleaning up is super easy since it's much smaller and we have streamlined our posessions; plus it's way cheaper! I'm sure I'll be itching for a new house at some point, but for now I'm enjoying this stage.
The other day, Milan and I made some yummy cookies during Eden's naptime. She helped with every step of the process and obviously loved the decorating part.

Milan had her fair share of cookies, frosting, and sprinkles!

We made 2 plates of cookies for friends and took daddy a plate at work. (Milan and I may have finished off the other 2 plates before they made it out of the house. Some self-control might be helpful once in a while.)
